"Meet My 5.000 New Best Pals" By: Janet Kornblum

In Janet Kornblum's essay, "Meet My 5,000 New Best Pals" she talks about how many friends different teenagers have on Facebook and Myspace. Today facebook and myspace are an everyday routine for most teenagers. Facebook was desgined for college students to search and meet new friends from their own personal colleges but over the past few years facebook is used throughout the world with children from all differnt ages. Personally facebook is part of my everyday life, i wake up check facebook before i can start the day. I believe facebook has become a major phenomenon amoung us teenagers today in te United States but can also have its disadvantages too. Since anybody can have access to facebook you have to be careful on who you add and who you don't. In this article, Janet Kornblum discusses how many people have a few amount of freiends or alot and if having a lot means your more popular or what. After reading how different teenagers judge others by how many friends they really bothered me. Because i believe it doesn't matter how many friends someone has; if i don't recognize or know the person and he/she seems shady i won't accept him/her as a friends. I think everybody should start thinking about that because in our society today we are having trouble with pedifilies on the internet and there is a good chance someone could stalk you out on facebook. So just think about the different possibilities to keep you yourself safe and remember the number of friends listed on your profile page doesn't mean how cool or popular you are.

I agree with what you said in your blog. I didn't get a facebook until the summer before I started college. Now, my friends little sister who is in 6th grade has a facebook and asked to be my friend! I also think it is important to be selective about the friends you accept because you never know what people's intentions are.
